David Fox Varsity Head Coach
DAVE FOX, VARSITY HEAD COACH
Coach Fox’s coaching career began in 1994 while attending college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. He coached baseball at Sinagua High School for 12 years as an assistant varsity coach, head freshman, and head JV coach. In the fall of 2006, Coach Fox became the head coach of the Boys Golf Team at Sinagua HS and led them to three consecutive region championships from 2007-2009. Coach Fox was named Grand Canyon Golf Coach of the Year in 2007, 2008, and 2009. The golf program graduated five players to the college level.
Coach Fox and his family moved to Fort Collins in 2011 to study statistics at Colorado State University, and decided to stay in Northern Colorado to continue his teaching career. Coach is now in his 10th year teaching mathmatics in Poudre School District, and his first year at Wellington High School. He joined the Wellington baseball program in 2023 as the head C team coach and 15U summer ball, before being named the head varsity coach in the fall of 2024.
Coach Fox looks forward to building on the success of the previous two years, but more importantly, wants to share his passion and joy of the for the game of baseball. “I want my players to learn how to run the bases, pitch, hit, catch, throw, but also how to overcome challenges, keep your head in the game, be a good teammate, and have fun.”

Thomas Blehm JV Head Coach
THOMAS BLEHM, JV HEAD COACH
Coach Thomas Blehm brings over 20 years of baseball experience as a player and nearly a decade as a coach to the team. Starting his baseball journey at the age of 4, Coach Blehm grew into a versatile athlete, excelling as a catcher, infielder, and pitcher. One of his most cherished memories as a player was traveling to Arizona during his 13U season to compete at ballparks modeled after MLB fields—an unforgettable experience that deepened his love for the game.
As a coach, Coach Blehm has spent almost five years working with high school athletes and began coaching youth baseball at the age of 15. His proudest coaching moment came last season when Wellington secured a huge win over Resurrection Christian, a game that highlighted his players’ growth and determination. For Coach Blehm, the most rewarding aspect of coaching is connecting with his players and helping them grow not just as athletes but as individuals. He hopes his players remember him as someone who truly cared about the small details in their lives and taught them lessons that extend beyond baseball.
This season, Coach Blehm is excited to build the JV program in the right direction, fostering a culture of hard work, teamwork, and growth. With his experience, passion, and dedication to his players, Coach Blehm is determined to create a lasting impact both on the field and within the Wellington Baseball community.

T. Cortese Freshman Head Coach
T. CORTESE, FRESHMAN HEAD COACH
Coach T. Tony Cortese brings over 50 years of playing experience and 30 years of coaching expertise to the program. Originally from Chicago, he played baseball at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins before joining the Marines. Since 1995, he has coached competitive baseball and is excited to bring his knowledge and passion to the Wellington Baseball program in his debut season.
Coach T is also the Mental Skills Coordinator, Hitting Coach, and Owner of Club Hitting Colorado, where he focuses on the Mind-Vision-Body Connection in sports. He trains college athletes, serves as the Hitting Coach for The Potros Latin League, and emphasizes “Progress Over Outcome” thinking to help players grow mentally and physically. His coaching philosophy is centered on hard work, learning quickly, and having fun.
This season, Coach T is eager to help build a winning culture and foster strong relationships with players, coaches, and the community. He loves watching players develop a growth mindset and find joy in the game. “I am grateful and excited to be a part of Wellington! Let’s get to work!”
Assistant Coaches

Robert Garza Varsity Assistant Coach
ROBERT GARZA, VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Robert Garza brings over 20 years of baseball experience as a player and 11 years as a coach to the team. Growing up with a passion for the game, he started playing at the age of 4 and continued through college, where he excelled as a pitcher. In high school, he showcased his versatility by playing outfield and first base during his four years on varsity. His favorite memories as a player include making it to regionals all four years in college and competing in the national tournament twice, finishing 8th one year and 2nd another. A standout moment was being named an All-Conference pitcher, an honor he earned as a reliever.
As a coach, Coach Garza finds joy in witnessing his teams succeed. One of his favorite memories is last season’s victory over top-ten ranked Resurrection Christian, a game where he felt his players delivered their most complete performance. He also takes pride in leading teams to back-to-back playoff appearances and helping his players grow both on and off the field. Coach Garza hopes his players remember the importance of controlling what you can control — your attitude and effort —values that extend beyond baseball and into life.
As he looks ahead to the upcoming season, Coach Garza is eager to see how the team competes at the 3A level and what they can accomplish in their third year together. He has high hopes for a dominant pitching staff and is excited to see the growth and determination of his players. With his experience, passion, and commitment to excellence, Coach Garza continues to inspire and prepare his players for success on and off the field.

Lane Porter JV Assistant Coach
LANE PORTER, JV ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Lane Porter brings 15 years of baseball experience as a player and a growing passion for coaching to the team. As a player, he spent most of his time at 2nd base and left field, developing a strong understanding of the game. One of his favorite memories is traveling to Cooperstown, New York, to play in a tournament while soaking in the rich baseball history of the Hall of Fame.
Now in his third year as a coach, Coach Porter’s favorite moments come from watching his players improve throughout the season. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, reminding players that baseball is a game of inches. “Everyone strikes out or misses a ground ball,” he says. “What matters is focusing on the next opportunity—you’ll get another pitch, another ground ball, and you can make that one count.”
This season, Coach Porter is excited to build on the team’s momentum and is looking forward to a fun and successful year. He’s eager to see this group of young men represent Wellington Baseball and show the rest of Colorado what they’re capable of. With his enthusiasm and focus on player development, Coach Porter helps foster both growth and a love for the game among his players.

Bryce Coy Assistant Coach
BRYCE COY, ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Bryce Coy brings 16 years of baseball experience as a player and 4 years as a coach to the team. Currently, he plays for the CSU Club Baseball Team, where he also serves as club president. Bryce’s playing career has been defined by versatility—he has played every infield position and even catcher at CSU. In high school, he was a 1st Team All-Conference pitcher, showcasing his talent on the mound. One of his favorite memories as a player is walking off CU Boulder—not once, but twice.
As a coach, Coach Coy’s favorite moments stem from seeing players grow both as athletes and as individuals. He emphasizes perseverance, a lesson he believes is fundamental both in baseball and in life. “Baseball is a game of failure,” he says. “The best players fail more often than they succeed. What matters is learning from mistakes, moving on, and continuing to play the game.”
Looking ahead to the season, Coach Coy is excited to work with the team and help players develop their skills while finding success on and off the field. With his experience and dedication, he aims to inspire his players to embrace challenges and make the most of every opportunity.
